MATALA BEACH FESTIVAL

Matala Beach Festival – Live Experience

The Matala Beach Festival is one of the most iconic cultural events in southern Crete, celebrating music, freedom, and the legendary spirit of Matala’s hippie era.

The upcoming edition takes place over three days:

📅 Friday 19 June · Saturday 20 June · Sunday 21 June (2026)

During these days, Matala transforms into a vibrant open-air festival by the sea, with live music, performances, art installations, and thousands of visitors from around the world.

A Celebration of Music & Freedom

Inspired by the free spirit of the 1960s and 70s, the Matala Beach Festival brings together international and Greek artists across multiple stages right on the beach.

From rock and reggae to electronic and traditional Cretan sounds, the festival creates a unique atmosphere where music blends with the natural beauty of the bay.

During the festival days, you can also experience the atmosphere live through the Matala Live Camera on this website, showing real-time views of the beach and crowd activity.

Live from Matala

The festival is not just something to attend — it is something you can also watch unfold in real time. The live stream captures the energy of the beach, the movement of visitors, and the transformation of Matala into a global cultural hotspot.

Check the live camera before visiting or to experience the atmosphere remotely during the event days.

A Modern Tradition

What started as a tribute to Matala’s hippie history has now become a major cultural event in Crete, attracting thousands of visitors every year while still preserving its authentic identity.

The festival remains deeply connected to nature, community, and the unique landscape of Matala Beach.
